Pupils receive royal thanks for kind words

-

CHILDREN at a primary school were thrilled to get personalised cards from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The children at Bollinbrook Primary School, on Abbey Road, Macclesfield, wrote to Prince William and Kate when they announced the birth of Princess Charlotte.

They sent homemade cards to congratulate them and have received a thank you from the royal couple.

Kath Bradshaw, from the school, said: “They did not expect to hear back, but the children received a very exciting package from Buckingham Palace.

“Inside was a letter thanking the class for their warm wishes, and thanking them for their handmade cards.”

In addition to the letter, each child in year one received a postcard from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thanking them for their cards and best wishes, each in a personalised envelope.

The royal seal of approval is the latest excitement for staff at Bollinbrook after the pre-school was named as ‘outstanding’ following an Ofsted inspection and the completion of an outdoor classroom in the school woods.

Kath added: “Though the pre-school runs independently of the primary school links between the two settings are very strong, with an excellent transition experience provided for the children as they move onto big school.

“The pre-school also has use of all the lovely grounds surrounding the school, including a fantastic woodland area and outdoor classroom.

“To add to this achievement, the setting is also having a new building installed over the summer holidays which will provide even better facilities for the children and families that use it.”
