Macclesfield Express - - THE LAUGHING BADGER -

●● THE sun made a welcome appearance for Beech Hall School’s sports day.

Field events at Macclesfield athletics track were followed by picnics on the lawn back at the school, with parents and pupils soaking up the rays.

In the afternoon, there was a wetter kind of competition in the pool.

The school would like to thank the sports department, and Mrs Farmer and Mr Davies in particular, for the smooth running of the day.

They would also like to congratulate all those who won prizes and succeeded in completing races on dry land and in the water.

Praise was also given to pupils who ‘jumped farther and higher’, working together to achieve.

Mr James Allen, senior headmaster, said: “Sport and physical activity, both participatory and competitive, have so much to offer, support and underpin in terms of attitudes.

“Our pupils’ attitudes throughout the day are a credit to the manner in which they approached and enjoyed the day – with commitment, collaboration and camaraderie.” ●● PUPILS at Marlborough Primary School had a visit from animation stars Wallace and Gromit who came to the school with pasta company Pasta King.

The company brought free samples for the children to try with a view to putting some on the school menu.

One Year 5 pupil, Dan, wrote to thank Pasta King for bringing the comedy duo and the samples.

To let Dan know how pleased they were to receive his letter, Phillip Little, Pasta King’s area manager, came to Marlborough’s celebration assembly to present Dan with a letter from Wallace and Gromit and a Shaun the Sheep DVD.

He even presented the lucky youngster with some Shaun the sheep pasta.
