Teams mastermind £1,800 hospice total
A ROOM full of masterminds with extensive knowledge of famous bridges, Wimbledon champions, literature and music has raised £1,800 for East Cheshire Hospice.
Dropping just two points out of a possible 200, the winning team – The Ox-Dol-Church Coalition – beat 17 other teams in the quiz event at Tytherington High School.
Quiz master and question setter was Mark Watson, a leading light of the pub quiz scene in Macclesfield and district. Raffle prizes came from Gawsworth Theatre, Sophie Lou Beauty, Waterstones and the Bridge Hotel. Quiz-sters also enjoyed food supplied by the hospice bakers and a pop-up bar run by Nik Kalka and friends with beer donated from Macclesfield brewery Storm Brewing.
The quiz, organised by hospice volunteer Alison Brammer, is a quarterly event. “We made every question count so that the hospice can make every day count,” she said.
“Being able to raise almost £2,000 for the hospice this time adds to what we have raised in February and means the quiz fans of Macclesfield and district have paid for a full 24 hours of care in the hospice – we can all be proud of that achievement.”
