Nursery children get taste for sport at Beech Hall
BEECH Hall School followed a successful Sports Day for its juniors, seniors, infants and pre-schoolers last month with one for its nursery children.
The sun was shining at its brightest, children were full of excitement and laughter, and parents, other family members and friends cheered on their little stars as well as enjoying a range of activities on offer.
Nursery manager Susannah Middleton said: “The egg and spoon race was a particular favourite among our nursery pupils, although the highlight of the afternoon, apart from the delicious Granelli’s ice cream, was cooling off in the swimming pool.
“We hope everyone had a fantastic day!”
More than 70 children took part in the first Sports Day for juniors, seniors, infants and pre-schoolers with pupils taking part in 100m, 200m and 400m running races, with seniors only taking on the challenge of the 800m.
Other events included the high jump, long jump, shot putt, discus and relay races.
Prizes for seniors will be awarded at a prize giving ceremony in the new term.
The junior prize giving was held on the day and included awards which infant and junior students have been working towards for the school year.
Awards were presented by Geraldine Yandell, headmistress, James Allen, senior headmaster and Prof Michael Lewis, the school’s new proprietor.
The sports days at the school are the end part of many events and competitions throughout the academic year.
Points are awarded to each team, or ‘house’ over the year with Oak house announced as the overall winner for this year.
