Stu­dent Daniel takes his soc­cer tal­ent State­side

A TEENAGE soc­cer sen­sa­tion has won a schol­ar­ship to study and play football in Amer­ica.

Daniel Booth, 18, has just fin­ished his A-lev­els at Poyn­ton High School.

Although he is wait­ing for his re­sults, Daniel has se­cured a spot at Bethany Col­lege in Bethany, West Vir­ginia.

Daniel, who lives in Poyn­ton, will travel to the States and play for the Bi­son soc­cer team in Au­gust.

Cel­e­brat­ing his achieve­ment David Waugh, head teacher at Poyn­ton High School, said: “This is ab­so­lutely fan­tas­tic news and is recog­ni­tion of Daniel’s ded­i­ca­tion to both his football and his aca­demic stud­ies.

“We are so very proud of his suc­cess and wish him all the best for his time in Amer­ica, it is a won­der­ful op­por­tu­nity.”

Daniel will study and play in West Vir­ginia for the next four years.

He achieved the schol­ar­ship through the as­sis­tance of PASS4Soc­cer Schol­ar­ships.

Daniel won the schol­ar­ship in recog­ni­tion of his aca­demic achieve­ments and his ath­letic abil­ity which was show­cased dur­ing tri­als in De­cem­ber.
