Radio

Canalside

Macclesfield Express - - MACCLESFIELD PEOPLE -

LAST week saw us welcome the final group of work experience students for the current school year into our studios.

The year has seen us train in excess of 100 students from local high and public schools, Buxton Community School and even one student from as far away as north Wales. All of the students have developed skills in all aspects of what is involved in running a radio station and quite a high number have decided they liked what they have seen and have stayed with us to become presenters on our youth internet radio station Canalside’s Phase One radio.

Tune in online and via 102.8fm to find out who they are. We must say thanks to Nick Wright, Mark Blackman, and Rebecca Done who have done a great job in training the youngsters.

We must also say thanks to our volunteers who have re-arranged their use of our recording studios so that the youngsters had access to them. This though isn’t the end of the training that we do. Throughout the summer we will be hosting other people who have expressed an interest in volunteering with us. Clea Kapadia, Alicia Walsh, Hannah Burgoyne, and Peter Smith are among the people that will be in with us and helping behind the scenes.

They may also be interested in presenting shows, so you may very well hear them on air. Finally we offer a warm welcome to one of our new volunteers, Jess Robins, who is the person who will be regularly updating our social media pages.
