Event on changes to homes plan
COMMUNITY groups will attend a consultation on the latest version of the council’s Local Plan.
Cheshire East has been drawing up the plan which guides what can be built in Macclesfield and the borough until 2030. The planning inspector in charge of examining it identified ‘serious failings’ and told the council it needed to increase the number of homes. This could mean another 750 homes for Macclesfield.
Cabinet has approved the changes which have now been submitted to the inspector.
The council is holding a meeting on the changes for invited parish councils and community groups on Monday, August 3 at Macclesfield Town Hall. There have been complaints the consultation is happening too late after the plan has been resubmitted.
Coun Rachel Bailey, Cabinet member in charge of the Local Plan, said: “The event is to provide an overview of the suggested revisions while gaining feedback. If the revisions address the inspector’s concerns, any formal proposals to modify the plan will be subject of more formal consultation.”
