Cana­dian re­unites with her friends for global MS fundraiser

A DIS­ABLED pen­sioner is to walk part of the Mid­dle­wood Way as part of a global fundrais­ing mis­sion.

An­gela Kirby has set her­self a goal of walk­ing 155km spread across five con­ti­nents, 13 coun­tries and 31 lo­ca­tions, to raise money for re­search into Mul­ti­ple Scle­ro­sis (MS).

The 70-year-old who has the dis­ease was born in Stock­port but em­i­grated to Canada 50 years ago.

She has cho­sen to visit places around the world where she ei­ther has friends or fam­ily who will join her at the var­i­ous lo­ca­tions help­ing her com­plete the sched­ule of walks.

She is plan­ning to walk 5km from Poyn­ton along the Mid­dle­wood Way with her brother, Chris Kee­gan, and other fam­ily as part of her chal­lenge.

An­gela said: “Know­ing that we are all wait­ing for that elu­sive cure, I felt that while I am still able I should make a con­certed ef­fort to raise more money wher­ever I could, in what­ever coun­try I could, to fund MS re­search.

“As an added bonus I get to see and walk with my fam­ily and friends around the world.”
