Bosley leads tributes to victims of mill explosion at championships
ON Sunday, Wood Treatment Bosley Tug of War Club competed at the South West Open Championships in Bristol.
This was the club’s first competition since the recent tragic events at WTL International in Bosley.
As a mark of respect to those who lost their lives, and to all of those affected by the incident, the team wore black armbands.
All of the tug of war teams that attended the event also observed a minute’s silence.
The club extended its thanks to the tug of war community for its support.
The team did Bosley proud on the day of the event, making the final of the 600kg competition where they narrowly lost to Oxney Vines Cross from Sussex by two ends to one – resulting in the silver medal. Bosley then made the semi-finals of the 640kg competition, losing out to Oxney Vines Cross again in the semi-finals.
This Sunday, the club will be competing at the UK Club Championships, which are being held in Bedfordshire, and will go on to compete at the European Championships in Belfast in September.

In support of the Help Bosley Fund, the club will be running a six-a-side charity tug of war competition at the Queens Arms family fun day on Saturday, August 8, starting at 1pm.
