Prestbury stay firm for season’s first win

CAPTAIN Ben Oakes won toss for Prestbury and decided to bat against Runcorn.
Adam Philips was out early on for three but Miles Mason with 61 steadied the innings supported by Rami Iyer (19), Tom Livesley (27), and Aquell Ahmed (13). This got Prestbury to 123-4.
This season Prestbury have fallen away in matches but Tim Saxon’s 18, Mohamed Mafaz’s 21 and 20 not out by Julian McGovern saw a total of 201-9 – the team’s highest score so far this season in the league. For Runcorn their overseas player Jaryd Philips took the bowling honours with 4-70.
Runcorn started off badly with Matty Gray taking a wicket with the first ball. Philips was having a good all-round day and powered Runcorn to 156-4.
Julian McGovern took 2-43 and was wellsupported by Mohamed Mafaz (3-30), leaving Matty Gray (4-59) to clean up the tail and Runcorn were bowled out for 175 to give Prestbury their first win of the season.
