Prest­bury stay firm for sea­son’s first win

CAP­TAIN Ben Oakes won toss for Prest­bury and de­cided to bat against Run­corn.

Adam Philips was out early on for three but Miles Ma­son with 61 stead­ied the in­nings sup­ported by Rami Iyer (19), Tom Lives­ley (27), and Aquell Ahmed (13). This got Prest­bury to 123-4.

This sea­son Prest­bury have fallen away in matches but Tim Saxon’s 18, Mo­hamed Mafaz’s 21 and 20 not out by Ju­lian McGovern saw a to­tal of 201-9 – the team’s high­est score so far this sea­son in the league. For Run­corn their over­seas player Jaryd Philips took the bowl­ing hon­ours with 4-70.

Run­corn started off badly with Matty Gray tak­ing a wicket with the first ball. Philips was hav­ing a good all-round day and pow­ered Run­corn to 156-4.

Ju­lian McGovern took 2-43 and was well­sup­ported by Mo­hamed Mafaz (3-30), leav­ing Matty Gray (4-59) to clean up the tail and Run­corn were bowled out for 175 to give Prest­bury their first win of the sea­son.
