Fund tops £50,000 and keeps on grow­ing

A FUND for those af­fected by the Bosley dis­as­ter has now reached more than £50,000.

The com­mu­nity has been do­nat­ing to a fund at and host­ing events to help fam­i­lies.

A raf­fle and auc­tion at The Queens Arms helped smash the £50,000 bar­rier as it raised £14,000. Canal­side ra­dio and Make it Macc or­gan­ised a col­lec­tion at the Trea­cle Mar­ket which raised more than £2,000.

Events this week in­clude a clay pi­geon shoot to­day (Wed­nes­day) from 6pm at Sour­butts Farm near Bosley. On Satur­day, The Queens Arms has a fam­ily fundrais­ing fete from mid­day to 5pm and there is a fundrais­ing gig at Bate Hall, Ch­ester­gate, Mac­cles­field, from 7pm.

So­ci­ety bar at Dukes Court, Mac­cles­field, is host­ing events on Fri­day from 7pm and on Sun­day.

Sylvia Jenk­in­son, from Bosley Parish Coun­cil, who set up the fund, said: “We have no words to de­scribe how truly grate­ful we are for ev­ery­one’s sup­port.”

Up­com­ing events in­clude a Silk Brass con­cert at The Queens Arms on Satur­day, Au­gust 15, 7.30pm and con­cert with the Scream­ing Beavers and other bands at Mac­cles­field Leisure Cen­tre on Satur­day, Au­gust 22.
