Fund tops £50,000 and keeps on growing
A FUND for those affected by the Bosley disaster has now reached more than £50,000.
The community has been donating to a fund at gofundme.com and hosting events to help families.
A raffle and auction at The Queens Arms helped smash the £50,000 barrier as it raised £14,000. Canalside radio and Make it Macc organised a collection at the Treacle Market which raised more than £2,000.
Events this week include a clay pigeon shoot today (Wednesday) from 6pm at Sourbutts Farm near Bosley. On Saturday, The Queens Arms has a family fundraising fete from midday to 5pm and there is a fundraising gig at Bate Hall, Chestergate, Macclesfield, from 7pm.
Society bar at Dukes Court, Macclesfield, is hosting events on Friday from 7pm and on Sunday.
Sylvia Jenkinson, from Bosley Parish Council, who set up the fund, said: “We have no words to describe how truly grateful we are for everyone’s support.”
Upcoming events include a Silk Brass concert at The Queens Arms on Saturday, August 15, 7.30pm and concert with the Screaming Beavers and other bands at Macclesfield Leisure Centre on Saturday, August 22.
