●● PIE-LOVERS are in for a treat after a company got planning approval to open a new cafe.
Lord of the Pies is to take over a prime spot on Chestergate which used to be a gift shop.
It was recently given planning permission to change the use from retail to a cafe.
Lord of the Pies makes traditional and modern British handmade gourmet pies. It also has a shop in Stockport.
The company has also applied for a premises licence to sell alcohol from 12pm to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 10.30am to 11pm Friday and Saturday, and Sunday 10.30am to 10.30pm. ●● PLANS have been submitted to build a new car park on the AstraZeneca site.
The scheme aims to provide parking for 283 cars.
The site includes an area which used to house a staff restaurant, now demolished.
The rest of the site is green open space.
The scheme also includes five electric car-charging ports. ●● A POPULAR cafe and bar has been awarded a certificate of excellence from travel review website Trip Advisor.
The Treacle Tap on Sunderland Street was given the award, which celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great reviews.
