Name / which or­gan­i­sa­tion are you in­volved with?: John Allen. Age UK Cheshire East Men in Sheds. How did you be­come a vol­un­teer?: I saw an ad­vert poster in a shop win­dow in Macc, it was lo­cal and ap­peared in­ter­est­ing. Since volunteering on Wed­nes­day af­ter­noons my ini­tial thoughts have been proved right and I’ve be­come in­volved in other Age UK ar­eas. What do you en­joy most about your role there?: Meet­ing the men and the con­ver­sa­tion. Where is your favourite place in Mac­cles­field?: The Mon­o­cle Deli café. Ideally how would you spend ev­ery day?: Do­ing what I am do­ing now: be­ing with my wife, Lind­say, volunteering, ex­er­cise, and work­ing with my com­puter. What was the best hol­i­day you have been on?: Go­ing to Whitby. A very close sec­ond is cy­cling along the Tiss­ing­ton Trail. Third are all the oth­ers: Venice, Syd­ney, San Fran­cisco, Malta etc. If money were no ob­ject what would you do?: Lots of money is not im­por­tant to me. What one piece of ad­vice would you give?: Al­ways look for the good in some­thing. What was your first job?: Ship­ping clerk. What is on your CD / MP3 player?: CD: the Bea­tles, the Ea­gles, Dire Straits, 10cc, Air Guitar, the An­i­mals – any soft rock. What is your favourite TV show?: Have I got News for you! What are you read­ing at the mo­ment?: Don’t read books. I read post­ings and com­ments on Face­book. If I read, it’s a news­pa­per such as The Guardian or The In­de­pen­dent. What is your big­gest in­spi­ra­tion?: My wife. Who would you like to in­vite to din­ner?: All my friends and fam­ily. Chil­dren’s Craft Ac­tiv­ity: City Scapes. Where / when is it?: Thurs­day, Au­gust 6, and Fri­day, Au­gust 7, at The Silk Mu­seum on Park Lane. What does it in­volve?: Mak­ing 3D city sky­lines from all sorts of ma­te­ri­als.
