MACCLESFIELD Town forward Kristian Dennis believes the supporters will play a crucial part in the team’s success this year.

Dennis has netted several times for the Silkmen during pre-season, including two goals against Congleton at the Moss Rose on Saturday.

He wants to carry that form into the competitive matches when the action begins this weekend, and hopes the crowd will motivate him to succeed.

“The fans always play a big part and if we can get a few early wins then that can bring a lot of supporters to games,” he said.

“We can’t wait for the season to start now as all the hard work has been done over the last four or five weeks.

“Everything we have worked towards will go into Saturday and we’re all wanting to make a good start.

“The 7-1 win on Saturday was a good confidence boost going into the new campaign and it was nice to get a few goals myself too.”

Macc get their league campaign underway with a trip to Plainmoor to take on Torquay United, and Dennis knows that his team will have to be on their game if they want to take all three points.

“We need to get off to the best start possible so we will be taking each game very seriously,” he said.

“We have a couple of home games after that match so it’s vital that we push up the league early on and try to go one better than last year.”
