Thugs threaten man with a meat cleaver during burglary
A HOMEOWNER was robbed and threatened with a meat cleaver in a horrifying burglary.
Two men pulled out the weapon and demanded money from the victim after being allowed access into the property on Statham Street.
The men, believed to be in their 20s, stole cash and other belongings from the victim, who was unharmed in the incident.
It happened at 4pm on Friday, July 31.
Police are now hunting for the two men.
A police spokesman said: “The victim answered his door to two unknown men who he allowed into his house. Once inside the offenders produced a meat cleaver and demanded money from the victim.
“The men stole cash and other belonging from the victim.
“The victim was unharmed during the incident.”
The first man is described as white, in his early to mid 20s, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, and of fat/stocky build.
He was wearing a dark coloured beanie hat, glasses, a khaki coloured anorak, brown trousers and red and white trainers.
He spoke with a local accent.
The second man is aged in his early to mid 20s, between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall of a very slim build.
He was wearing a black beanie hat or cap, black jacket, black trousers and black trainers or shoes.
He also spoke with a local accent.
