Thugs threaten man with a meat cleaver dur­ing bur­glary

A HOME­OWNER was robbed and threat­ened with a meat cleaver in a hor­ri­fy­ing bur­glary.

Two men pulled out the weapon and de­manded money from the vic­tim af­ter be­ing al­lowed ac­cess into the prop­erty on Statham Street.

The men, be­lieved to be in their 20s, stole cash and other be­long­ings from the vic­tim, who was un­harmed in the in­ci­dent.

It hap­pened at 4pm on Fri­day, July 31.

Po­lice are now hunt­ing for the two men.

A po­lice spokesman said: “The vic­tim an­swered his door to two un­known men who he al­lowed into his house. Once in­side the of­fend­ers pro­duced a meat cleaver and de­manded money from the vic­tim.

“The men stole cash and other be­long­ing from the vic­tim.

“The vic­tim was un­harmed dur­ing the in­ci­dent.”

The first man is de­scribed as white, in his early to mid 20s, be­tween 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, and of fat/stocky build.

He was wear­ing a dark coloured beanie hat, glasses, a khaki coloured anorak, brown trousers and red and white train­ers.

He spoke with a lo­cal ac­cent.

The sec­ond man is aged in his early to mid 20s, be­tween 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall of a very slim build.

He was wear­ing a black beanie hat or cap, black jacket, black trousers and black train­ers or shoes.

He also spoke with a lo­cal ac­cent.
