Thousands rewind to the 1980s with festival hits
MORE than 20,000 80s and 90s music lovers descended on Macclesfield for the Rewind Festival North at the weekend.
It’s the second time the event has come to Capesthorne Hall in Siddington, with 24 acts taking to the stage over the three days.
Headliners included Human League and OMD, Kim Wilde, Belinda Carlisle, The Boomtown Rats and Jimmy Somerville.
Howard Jones, Bananarama, Soul II Soul, Chesney Hawkes, M People singer Heather Small and St Elmo’s Fire singer John Parr also took the crowds back in time.
David Heartfield, director of festival organisers Impresario, said: “It was fantastic. There were families, people on hen nights – there was something for everyone.”
He added: “We had to change the running order a bit due to a pile-up on the M6 but all the acts turned up, with the public responding particularly well to Jimmy Somerville, Human League and Boomtown Rats.
“I think the festival is so popular as it’s an opportunity for people to relive their youth.”
Festival-goers also enjoyed international food and waitress service to help them kick back and enjoy the tunes.
