Reaction to Bosley events is remarkable
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with them at this challenging time.
The response from the community to the tragic event has been remarkable.
The appeal fund, set up by local residents, has already raised significant funds.
All those who would like to donate should visit www.gofundme.com/ znkr4vg or support planned events, such as the celebrity football match on Sunday, September 6 at Macclesfield Town’s Moss Rose stadium.
I would like to thank our emergency services for their exceptional response to the explosion.
This not only involved Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire Police and the North West Ambulance Service, but also other services extending from Merseyside to West Yorkshire.
They showed real courage and professionalism in the way that they tackled this major incident.
Cheshire East Council’s response to the incident should also be praised, with its drop-in services located at Bosley School.
Many affected by the incident have received support on issues ranging from advice on jobs to counselling services.
I have met the owners of Wood Treatment Ltd to seek answers to questions raised by a number of the company’s employees.
I also met the Health and Safety Executive shortly after the explosion to discuss its vital investigation to determine the cause of this catastrophic incident.
At the meeting, I stressed how important it would be for questions which have been raised by local residents and those who have worked at the site to be fully answered by the investigation, which will continue to be a priority in the months ahead.
