College course helps students get dream jobs
A COURSE set up to help unemployed people into the world of employment has been hailed a huge success.
The course is run by Macclesfield College in conjunction with Job Centre Plus.
Seventeen students have successfully completed the Level 1 Award in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children and Young People Settings, which is certified by City and Guilds.
The course was also supported by employers, who interviewed the students with the potential for permanent jobs. Firms such as Ablewell Care, Sunrise Senior Living ,My Life Living Assistance, David Lewis Centre and the Manor Care Home met with the students at a special open day and a number of students were employed as a result of the interview process.
Elaine Verdon, who delivered the course with fellow lecturer Steve Axon, said: “We are delighted with another successful course, resulting in job offers for many of the learners.”
The course is designed for unemployed people who are currently looking for work in the health and social care, early years or young people sectors. It will give them knowledge and help to develop some of the skills that are needed to enable them to work in these areas.
