House buyers donate to help town’s hospice
EAST Cheshire Hospice is to benefit from a new fundraising venture set up by Leek United Building Society.
The ‘Feelgood Mortgage’ means that when customers apply for a mortgage they make a £50 donation to one of four hospices, including East Cheshire Hospice.
The other charitable organisations to benefit under the ‘Feelgood’ scheme include: Treetops Hospice (Derbyshire); Severn Hospice (Shropshire) and the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice (Staffordshire).
Camilla Crockett, corporate fundraising officer at the East Cheshire Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to Leek United for all its continuing support, and it’s great that the society has chosen us to be part of this new charitable initiative.
“Our community really supports us and loves to see local businesses becoming involved in the work that we do, so this is really important to the hospice.”
Clare Beardmore, Leek United’s marketing and products manager, said: “Not only will our ‘Feelgood Mortgage’ help people in the communities we serve to buy a home – it will also provide much-needed support for four amazing charities in those communities.
“We chose the hospices because their wonderful work touches so many lives across the four counties.”
