MACCLESFIELD water babies have made a splash for charity.

Tots who enjoy Water Babies swimming classes at Park Lane School in Macclesfield took part in a pirate themed splashathon in aid of the babies charity Tommy’s.

They were sponsored by friends and family in a variety of underwater challenges, with funds raised going to the charity, which funds research into stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriage.

The classes in Macclesfield and Handforth are run by Anna Bates.

She said: “Splashathon helps to raise funds for a really important cause, as well as being a lot of fun for everyone involved.

“We plan to make 2015 a record breaking year in terms of funds raised.

“Our original target locally was £10,000 and at last count we were nearly at £21,000, so it has been a tremendous effort by everyone. We are blown away!”
