●● THE 20mph speed limit in the centre of Prestbury village has been extended.
The extension follows an appeal by Prestbury Parish Council and their borough councillor after several near misses involving pedestrians.
The limit has been extended from the village centre by 60 yards up the Wilmslow Road, past the front of the Co-op, and 140 yards up Macclesfield Road towards the Village Hall.
The new restriction is indicated by four new posts and signs as well as newly painted warnings on the approach roads indicating the extended 20mph zone.
Cheshire East Councillor Paul Findlow and Parish Council Chairman Arthur Dicken both welcomed the change, hailing it as another step towards making the village a safer place to walk and to shop.
The new limit was imposed on Monday, August 3. The Parish Council already use a flashing Speed Indicator Device, or SID, to slow the traffic approaching the village centre, and a safety assessment study of the narrow hill down the Wilmslow Road towards the Chelford Road Junction has also been requested from Cheshire East Highways. ●● THE annual Prestbury Village Show will take place in the Village Hall in Dale Brow on Saturday, September 12, at 2pm.
