Former Stoke striker joins Silkmen
MACCLESFIELD Town have made another permanent signing after trialist John Marsden signed a contract with the club.
The 22-year-old striker has been on trial with the Silkmen ever since the game against Kidsgrove last month, and scored one of the goals during the 7-1 triumph over Congleton.
He could feature for Macclesfield during this weekend’s home match with Welling, and he’s glad to finally put pen to paper on a deal.
It’s great to get it done and be given the opportunity to play and prove myself, it’s good to get it all over the line,” he said.
“I played last season in the Conference and when we played against Macclesfield they were a great, tough side and difficult opponents to play against and a good footballing team as well, so as soon as the opportunity came I jumped at it.
“I see myself scoring goals in this team, it’s a good attacking side with great ability and I believe if I get the chance I’ll put the ball in the back of the net.”
Marsden’s most prolific season was at Stockport Sports from 2012 to 2013 where he scored 21 goals in 31 matches. Since then he has been at Stoke City, Shrewsbury Town, Southport and Lincoln City over the past few years.
