Beech Hall School owners appoint a new director
BEECH HALL School owners Riverston have appointed Richard Purchase as executive director of the Riverston Group and chief executive officer of Riverston Schools (UK) Ltd.
Richard was until recently director of colleges and business development at Alpha Plus Group. Alpha Plus is the UK’s second largest independent schools operator with 12 schools including Wetherby in London, four colleges and two nurseries.
Richard joined Alpha Plus in 2008 from Tribal Group where he was managing director of their children’s services education consulting business.
At Alpha Plus Richard developed and led numerous successful implementation growth strategies.
One of these resulted in Abbey DLD College’s revenues growing from £13m in 2008/09 to £28m in 2012/13.
A pharmacist who qualified at Bath University, he has significant experience in the healthcare and educational services sector.
Also an international hockey player in his youth, he continues to play at senior international level as well as being an accomplished hockey coach.
Richard will contribute to Riverston’s business development in the UK and internationally, and will have executive responsibility for the success and expansion of Riverston’s schools in the UK including Beech Hall School and Riverston School in London.
He joins Jackie Harland, former CEO of the London Children’s Practice based in Harley Street, on the Riverston Group executive board, with Michael Lewis as executive chairman.
Riverston, owned by Professor Michael Lewis and his wife Janina, specialises in providing an inclusive and integrated education to students of all abilities including those who are exceptionally gifted and talented as well as those who have mild or moderate additional learning needs.
