Saxon swings match
PRESTBURY claimed victory by 15 runs against Stockport at the weekend, collecting 25 points in the bargain.
Captain Ben Oakes won the toss and decided to bat but Prestbury soon found themselves 5-2 with Rami Iyer (1) and Simon Edmunds (0) out.
Adam Philips (12) and Tom Livesley (22) offered some resistance and the same could be said for Conor Hibel who made 17.
Stockport took off the opening bowlers and it gave Prestbury the chance to rebuild. Aqueel Ahmed was out for six and that brought Tim Saxon in. He hit his highest innings for Prestbury’s first team with 88 including seven sixes and seven fours off 72 balls as Prestbury closed on 186, a great score after a rocky start.
Khan took 5-45, Husain 2-11 for Stockport, who then went about the task of getting 187 at pace.
The pitch had eased up and runs flowed and at 118-4 there looked only one winner.
But Julian McGovern turned things around with 6-63 off 21 overs.
Worthy of special mention for his debut in the first team was bowler Conor Hibel, who normally keeps wicket. He took 2-44 while Oakes claimed 2-25.
