More to come says Sampson
MACCLESFIELD Town forward Jack Sampson insists there is still a lot more to come from him following his man of the match performance against Welling United.
The 22-year-old played a pivotal role, setting up one of the goals as his side ran out 2-1 winners at the Moss Rose.
“My performance was exactly how I usually play. I always try and hassle the centre-halves,” he said.
“I’m still a bit gutted I didn’t score as I had a few opportunities even though they were just half-chances. I got an assist though and the main thing is we got three points.
“I played on the right against Welling as Kristian Dennis is more of an out and out striker than me, but I thought I did well when cutting in.
“The manager had a word after the game with me about showboating late on but I don’t even know what that means! I think I was just tired, not showboating!”
Meanwhile, Macclesfield have added to their squad by signing midfielder Damani Holness on non-contract terms.
Holness has recently been on trial with the Silkmen, and his performances have impressed manager John Askey.
He played for Northwich Victoria last season, while also having spells for Morecambe and Stockport County during his career.
