‘It was the worst form of bullying and violence’

A JUDGE told Crawford he had subjected his victim to sustained and sadistic violent acts.

Judge Roger Dutton described him as a significant risk to women and ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life upon release from prison.

He said: “It was the worst form of bullying and violence for the sake of violence.

“You made demands of her and controlled her, telling her what she was and was not able to do and she acted because she was terrified she would be injured even more.

“She was beaten and then you raped her, twice. If that wasn’t enough you forced her to take a whole mixture of medication, a serious amount of drugs.

“It may have been so she would forget her experience, but certainly to keep her sedated until Monday so you could steal her money from the post office.

“After she was ill you fell asleep and she escaped and got help.

“This was a dreadful series of offences and while the incident is broken down into separate indictments, I am treating them as a global sentence which represents the sheer horror of her experience and the depth and depravity of your crimes.”
