Lunch ladies dine for charity cause
LADIES associated with Macclesfield Cricket Club came together for their annual lunch and raised £600 for East Cheshire Hospice at the same time.
The event at the ground on Victoria Road included a three-course meal cooked by Michelle Platt, caterer at the club, and her team.
This year the club had a raffle in aid of the hospice in memory of a the late Sylvia Holland, a member of the cricket club and Ladies Lunch regular, who also volunteered at the hospice.
The raffle had donations from PR Jones The Jewellers, Macclesfield, RS Higginbotham Haulage, Railway Inn Congleton, Nails and Beauty by Johanna, The Sutton Gamekeeper, DV8 Congleton, TTS Meats and Chestergate Cosmetics among others.
Claire Hughes, from the cricket club, said: “Sylvia was a lovely lady and volunteered at the hospice and was a great friend to my mother.
“The weather was lovely, the cricket was great and to top it all off we raised a fantastic £600 for East Cheshire Hospice.
“I want to thank all the local businesses for their kind donation.”
