Village talent for all to see at annual fruit and veg show
COMPETITORS have been tending their vegetables and finishing their artistic creations for Sutton’s annual show.
The 49th Sutton Ex-Servicemen’s Annual Flower and Vegetable Show is coming up this Sunday and villagers will show off their talents and enter a variety of classes, with the annual scarecrow competition set to be as competitive as ever.
And for the first time, budding artists can also enter a painting competition.
Robert Barnard, show secretary, said: “The Show really is a friendly village event, and is open to everyone. Let’s hope the sun shines, the village turns out and we have a wonderful day.
“The scarecrow competition will again take place. It would be superb if this could continue to grow.”
The show will again take place, with the permission of Peter and Jenny Barber in a marquee on Spooners Flats, Hollin Lane, Sutton.
The marquee will be open to the public from 2.30pm.
Jobling Gowler Solicitors, in Macclesfield, are sponsoring the new art category ‘All Thing Bright and Beautiful’. The exhibition ‘Flora’ is open to the public every Monday-Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm, until September 25. Entrance is free. For more details go to suttonshow.co.uk.
