Free wi-fi, USB points and more leg room on ‘sparkling’ new buses

SPE­CIAL guests were in­vited to a town hall event to mark the launch of new bus model on the 130 Mac­cles­field to Manch­ester route.

The new Sap­phire bus, which al­ready op­er­ates on the 38 route to Crewe, fea­tures free wi-fi, USB charg­ing points, lux­ury leather type seat­ing, ex­tra leg room and au­dio/ vis­ual next stop an­nounce­ments. They took to the roads on Mon­day, Septem­ber 7.

To mark the launch, a Sap­phire bus spent the day in front of Mac­cles­field Town Hall and spe­cial guests were in­vited to watch im­pres­sive en­ter­tain­ers Calvos Dos, who wowed passers-by with their mes­meris­ing act.

In­for­ma­tion, cup­cakes and good­ies were given to shop­pers and cus­tomers in the town to pro­mote the up­grade in ser­vice.

Phil Cum­mins, area man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, Ar­riva Manch­ester which op­er­ates the ser­vice, said: “With two Sap­phire ser­vices op­er­at­ing in the town, our Mac­cles­field buses are cer­tainly sparkling!

“We’re thrilled that we have the op­por­tu­nity to im­prove per­cep­tions, en­cour­age non-users to give the bus a try and im­prove the jour­ney.”

One cus­tomer will also be given the chance to win a iPad mini.
