Free wi-fi, USB points and more leg room on ‘sparkling’ new buses
SPECIAL guests were invited to a town hall event to mark the launch of new bus model on the 130 Macclesfield to Manchester route.
The new Sapphire bus, which already operates on the 38 route to Crewe, features free wi-fi, USB charging points, luxury leather type seating, extra leg room and audio/ visual next stop announcements. They took to the roads on Monday, September 7.
To mark the launch, a Sapphire bus spent the day in front of Macclesfield Town Hall and special guests were invited to watch impressive entertainers Calvos Dos, who wowed passers-by with their mesmerising act.
Information, cupcakes and goodies were given to shoppers and customers in the town to promote the upgrade in service.
Phil Cummins, area managing director, Arriva Manchester which operates the service, said: “With two Sapphire services operating in the town, our Macclesfield buses are certainly sparkling!
“We’re thrilled that we have the opportunity to improve perceptions, encourage non-users to give the bus a try and improve the journey.”
One customer will also be given the chance to win a iPad mini.
