Beaten but pride intact for Prestbury

Macclesfield Express - - SEARCH - BILL LIVESLEY

PRESTBURY made a good fist of it against league leaders Lindow but fell to defeat.

They won toss and Ben Oakes put Lindow in on a damp wicket.

Lindow batted well with Taylor (23) offering support to Tyler (73) and Yates (67).

Prestbury were not as sharp in the field as in previous weeks but best bowling figures were from Joe Seddon (2 for 20) backed up by Julian McGovern (2 for 51).

Cameron Kirkland was unlucky only to get 1 for 31 so Lindow set a total of 238 for 6 off 40 overs.

Prestbury openers Rami Iyer (6) and Julian McGovern (23) got things going, Conor Hibel (4) and Tom Livesley (15) got Prestbury to 111 for 4.

But wickets kept falling – Rommel Gondal (3), Abdullah Waseem (0) – leaving Aqueel Ahmed to hold on he made a superb 67, his highest first team score.

But when he was run out the innings soon closed despite 17 from Karun Savardekar, Joe Seddon ( 1), Ben Oakes ( 5) and Cameron Kirkland ( 3 not out).

Overall, a good effort against the top team in the league who will be going into the Cheshire County League for the first time in the club’s history.
