Rogue gardeners con woman out of £350

A WOMAN withdrew £350 from the bank to pay for substandar­d work by rogue gardeners.

Police are investigat­ing after the incident on Friday, September 4.

Two men wearing dark clothing carried out some gardening work for a lady who lives on Bollinbarn Drive, Macclesfie­ld.

They then charged £350 for the ‘sub-standard’ work, and drove the victim to the bank to withdraw the money.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw two men acting suspicious­ly in the are or received a similar request for work.

A police spokesman said: “Police are appealing for informatio­n following an incident of rogue gardeners in Macclesfie­ld.

“On Friday 4 September, at approximat­ely midday, two unknown men went to the victim’s home at Bollinbarn Drive, Macclesfie­ld. Once at the address the two men have completed some substandar­d gardening work and charged the occupant £350. They then drove the female victim to the bank to withdraw the money.”
