●● A HURDS­FIELD coun­cil­lor has pledged to tackle safety con­cerns on Black Road.

Coun Mick War­ren said res­i­dents have been com­plain­ing about is­sues along the busy stretch, which is used as a route to Puss Bank school.

He met with highways of­fi­cers to look at the junc­tions along the road.

Coun War­ren said of­fi­cers are propos­ing im­prove­ments to the width of the traf­fic is­land and changes to dou­ble yel­low lines.

Of­fi­cers have also as­sured him that a trip haz­ard in the area will be fixed as a pri­or­ity.

Coun War­ren’s next surgery will be at The MAC on Goodall Street on Sun­day Septem­ber 27 from 6pm-7.30pm. ●● A SE­CU­RITY firm is host­ing a cof­fee and cake event to raise money for Macmil­lan Can­cer Care.

The event is at Ex­treme Se­cu­rity on Hurds­field Road on Oc­to­ber 23 through­out the day. ●● CINEMAC is host­ing a screen­ing of Co­ri­olanus.

The event at Her­itage Cen­tre, Roe Street, on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 24, at 7pm, will show the Na­tional Theatre Live’s 2013 broad­cast of the Don­mar Ware­house’s pro­duc­tion of the Shake­speare tragedy.

The Ch­ester­gate pub will be giv­ing lo­cal singers the chance to show­case their tal­ents on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 24 from 8pm. ●● THE Silk Trader is host­ing a cof­fee and cake morn­ing to bat­tle can­cer.

The Brook Street pub will be selling de­li­cious cakes and cof­fee on Fri­day, Septem­ber 25, from 10am to 12pm.

It aims to raise money for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port.

A sim­i­lar event at the Mac­cles­field and Bolling­ton United Re­formed Church at Park Green will be from 10am-12pm.
