I’VE just returned from a family holiday spent in a quiet resort on the beautiful Greek island of Zakynthos.
It’s the furthest south of the Ionian islands which stay relatively green thanks to rain showers in the winter and thunder storms during the summer.
Every family’s plot of land seems to include a vineyard, however small, along with the ubiquitous olive groves.
And the island is also home to some very drinkable and individual wines which can rarely be found elsewhere.
If you’ve been on your holidays there you may have drunk them in the many tavernas specialising in Greek dishes such as grilled sea bream and barbecued meats.
