Fan fund boost
MACCLESFIELD Town manager John Askey hopes funds raised by Silkmen supporters can help bring a couple of new players to the club.
Macc fans have started gathering money over the last few weeks that will go towards the team’s playing budget.
Askey’s side have a number of injuries at the moment, but he hopes his squad can benefit from supporters’ generosity.
“The supporters have rallied around and are trying to raise money to increase the budget,” he said.
“We have around £1,000 at the moment so I can’t thank them enough.
“If we can get it up to £10,000 then that could get us a player or two.
“At the moment we might only be able to name two or three substitutes as Neil Byrne was forced off against Forest Green and we don’t know the full extent of that yet.
Theo Bailey-Jones got injured in the warm up of that game and Paul Turnbull is out too, so we are definitely short.”
Macc were set to host Barrow in their latest National League match at the Moss Rose on Tuesday as the Express went to print.
