Roll up to help the hospice
NEW skating facility MAC is urging residents to roll up and raise funds for East Cheshire Hospice.
The not-for-profit company on Goodall Street will donate all skate hire fees in October, priced at 50p per person, to the cause.
BBC Radio Manchester will also visit the centre on Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 9pm, during the adults only skating session.
Andy Brooks, co-director, said: “East Cheshire Hospice are fantastic and struggle to raise funds.
“Skating is a great way to help us do this for them as it is fun, good exercise, not weather dependent and family friendly.”
He added that the event is the first in a series organised by the multiactivity centre and they hope to raise a couple of hundred pounds each month.
There is a 1970s disco in November and a Reindeer Run in December where children can don red noses and chase Santa Claus on skates.
Apart from general skating, the centre, which opened in July, also offers lessons on Saturday and Sundays from 11am and roller hockey club at 12.30pm.
Skating sessions are £5 including skate hire. For more information see macactivitycentre.co.uk.
