Thumbs up as Mabel celebrates being 104
A CENTENARIAN who loves nothing more than a party and a sing song enjoyed exactly that for her 104th birthday.
With the help of staff at Ingersley Court, in Bollington, Mabel Glover celebrated with a party for family and friends, and a performance by soprano Helen England.
Great, great grandmother of one Mabel, who was spellbound by the entertainment, said: “I had a wonderful day and I loved Helen’s performance.”
Mabel was born in Macclesfield and was a pupil at Beech Lane School, leaving aged 14 to work at Neckwear, which made silk scarves and ties.
Mabel, who married her late husband Garnett when she was 18, has been at Ingersley Court for more than 30 years, first as a resident in the flats and then at the care home.
She is still independent and joins in activities.
Cheryl Brooks, activity co-ordinator, said: “Mabel is fantastic. She has a great sense of humour, she loves to socialise, and she’s always so positive.
“We were all excited to make her 104th birthday extra-special.
“There was a great atmosphere during Helen’s performance, and everyone clearly enjoyed the chance to celebrate!”
