Boy rescued by firefighters after 15ft tree climb
FIREFIGHTERS rescued a boy who got stuck up a tree.
The teenager was playing football in the park off Brynmore Drive, Macclesfield, when the ball got stuck in the branches.
After climbing 15ft to retrieve the ball the boy was unable to get down.
Neighbours used ladders to try and rescue the boy but were unsuccessful.
A fire crew from Macclesfield and an ambulance were called at 5.30pm.
Firefighters used a ladder to help down the teenager, who was checked over by paramedics.
He didn’t suffer any injuries.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “A group of lads were playing football and the ball got stuck in the tree.
“He climbed about 15ft and couldn’t get down.
“Neighbours had tried to get the boy down but couldn’t quite manage it so we helped.
“He was okay but the paramedics gave him a look over.
“His mum told us he wasn’t very good at climbing trees.”
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called to the scene and waited for the casualty to be extracted from the tree.
“There was no injuries so there was no need for him to go to hospital.”
