Rally team in charity road trip
A TEAM of pals have completed their road trip for charity and raised thousands of pounds for charity.
The friends drove thousands of miles across Europe as part of the Ramshackle Rally, a driving challenge which sees teams head across five countries in five days in a car worth no more than £250.
Simon Spurrell, 48, from Sutton, Julian Higginson, 46, Keith Hallam, 42, and James Henshaw, 38, transformed a 20-year-old Volvo into a homage to Ken Dodd, with brightly covered fur.
Their seven-day route took them across three of the highest mountains and most dangerous roads in Europe before ending in Germany.
The car made the long trip and was sold to a fellow rally team from Hartlepool.
The team have made more than £3,200 for Destiny Children, which funds a school in Kenya providing education, a feeding programme and clean water.
