MACCLESFIELD Boys Boxing Club kicked off the new season in spectacular form with one of their up and coming young females, Jess Zelazko, heading out to Poland for second time in a few months to take part in the Polish International boxing tournament Sandomierz.

She was part of a team of boxers made up from the north west and Luton clubs.

As the weigh in was completed, the matches were made and Jess was to box Anglika Strzekecka.

Although the local girl from KEZO Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski Boxing Club was far more experienced, Jess was comfortable and won the bout.

Both girls came out looking confident, Jess settling into her own rhythm. In her southpaw stance she looked really strong and was taking no prisoners. With a barrage of shots she proceeded to push her opponent back with solid strong straight shots, nice crisp right hooks and jabs down the middle with a punishing backhand following up.

As the bell rang for the end of the first round it was clear the local girl was no match for Jess and rather than putting her through any more punishment, the corner threw the towel in with Jess taking a very dominant victory on polish soil.

MBBC were elated as this was the second time she had ventured abroad and returned the victor, despite being just 14 years old. The future certainly looks bright for Jess “Iron Lady” Zelazko!
