Lions cruise to win against Waterloo
MACCLESFIELD’S second team, the Lions, entertained Waterloo, one of the remaining three unbeaten teams in the Bateman Premiership League and ran out easy winners.
The Lions handicapped themselves with an early yellow card but still managed to score during this period with the lively Thorp crossing the whitewash with the conversion added by S Sheratte.
The first half ended with the Lions leading Waterloo 19-6.
Following the break Lions resumed the game is a far more determined fashion and produced some of the best rugby of the season to date with backs and forwards linking together to produce some exciting play that brought a further six tries.
Debutant Charlie Venables scored twice – one a length of the field effort – while there were further scores from Walker, Burke, Elliot and finally Thorpe with S Sheratte converting five of these.
Next week the Lions are away against Sale FC.
