Parents identified as perfect Barnaby helpers

Macclesfield Express - - HALLOWEEN HORRORS -

BARNABY Festival organisers are appealing for volunteers for next year’s festival – and say mums and dads are perfectly placed to help.

Whether writing, stewarding, running competitions or distributing brochures, there are 100s of roles that can be carried out by busy parents with a passion for the community.

Jody Sherratt, volunteer and dad to Noah, said: “I want my children to grow up in a town where culture is on their doorstep.

“I’ve done a bit of everything for Barnaby over the past few years – from sourcing recycling facilities to organising printing. There’s a great atmosphere among the team and I’ve managed to fit in what I can around my day job and being a dad.”

Fiona Bailey, former trustee and volunteer, said: “I’ve found it exhilarating to be involved in Barnaby and have helped out where I can.

“I’d not worked while the children were small and found volunteering at Barnaby a great way to get my head around the world of work and learn some new skills in a fun and friendly environment.”

The next open meeting is at 7.30pm on Monday, November 23, at The Tea Kitchen, Old Sunday School. To get involved email dan@ barnabyfesti
