Former Macc Town footballer dies aged 74
A FOOTBALLER who ended his career at Macclesfield Town FC has died at the age of 74.
David Shawcross made 47 appearances for Manchester City from 1958-65, playing at wing half for the club.
During a 15-year career, Shawcross played for a number of other clubs after he left the Blues including Stockport County, Halifax Town, Altrincham and Macclesfield Town.
The former wing half was a squad member alongside such notable City players as Bert Trautmann, Johnny Hart, Ken Barnes, Alan Oakes and Neil Young.
Shawcross lived in Hazel Grove and finished off his career with Macclesfield in 1973
