Drama thespians have Great Expectations for Dickens show

-

A THEATRE group has ‘great expectations’ for its next show when they perform a Charles Dickens classic.

The thespians at Macclesfield Amateur Dramatic Society (MADS) bring Great Expectations to the stage at the Lord Street theatre at the end of November.

Group member Suzanne Copeland said: “Bringing to life all the vivid characters of the novel, this adaptation by Hugh Leonard conveys the story with great clarity, atmosphere and theatrical flair.

“Pip will be played by Oliver Bracey, Miss Havisham by multi-award winning Susan Sills and Magwich by Richard Probyn, along with a cast of MADS favourites and some new faces.

“Gail Hardman takes the helm as director so some technical wizardry is assured.”

The story revolves around the life of poor orphan Pip who is taken under the wing of the eccentric Miss Haversham and her adopted daughter Estelle.

The play runs from November 30 until December 5. Tickets are now on sale at £7-£9 from the box office on 01625 611974 or at www. ticketsource.co.uk/ madstheatre.
