Caring Sarah’s hair donation
A KIND-HEARTED teenager has lopped off her long locks to help children with cancer.
Sarah Whitaker, 14, had 12 inches of her hair cut off at Scizzor Sisters on the Weston.
She then donated it to The Little Princess Trust, which uses the hair to make wigs for children with cancer who lose their hair through treatment.
Sarah also raised £100 for the charity.
Sarah, who goes to Macclesfield Academy, was inspired to make the sacrifice after learning about the charity a few years ago.
Her mum Helen Hulme said: “Sarah has always been a very thoughtful girl.
“A few years ago she had hair so long she could sit on it and said she wanted to donate it to the charity. Unfortunately that didn’t happen.
“Recently the family lost a close family friend to cancer and combined with Sarah’s recent spell in hospital, she was inspired to give it a try again.
“It was sad seeing all her lovely hair cut off, but it’s lovely that she wants to do something for other children.”
Sarah lives on the Weston with her mum and two brothers, Daniel, 18, and Ben, 21.
