Rainow flour­ishes at awards event

MEM­BERS of the 1st Rainow Cubs were among those pay­ing re­spects to the men who lost their lives in war. RAINOW has been ap­plauded at the Com­mu­nity Pride Com­pe­ti­tion.

Parish coun­cil chair­man John Cantrell and Coun­cil­lor Ca­role Har­vey at­tended the 59th Com­mu­nity Pride Com­pe­ti­tion in Ellesmere Port, or­gan­ised by Cheshire Com­mu­nity Ac­tion.

They cel­e­brated as the vil­lage was awarded a Lit­tle Gem award for the pond at the bot­tom of Sugar Lane, and col­lected a £25 prize for the best com­mu­nity ini­tia­tive the vil­lage. The vil­lage reached the fi­nal five in

Al­most 30 clubs at­tended the Re­mem­brance Ser­vice at Rainow Church in Rainow on Sun­day, Novem­ber 8. the Best Kept Vil­lage cat­e­gory, and was named as run­ner up in the cat­e­gory for Best Com­mu­nity News­let­ter.

John Stagg was awarded

Sue Grimes, Akela at 1st Rainow Cubs, said: “I was very proud and pleased with them. We had prac­tised march­ing at the weekly meet­ing Highly Com­mended as Com­mu­nity Cham­pion.

Sarah Giller, clerk for Rainow Parish Coun­cil, said: “Well done to ev­ery­one in­volved.”
