Ireland with Simon Reeve BBC2, 8pm
The adventurer returns with a new two-parter exploring the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Both form one of the world’s most beautiful islands in the world: a region steeped in history, culture and belief, but one with a complex and troubled past. The first stop is County Wexford where Simon examines the start of the long, turbulent relationship between Britain and Ireland. He also takes a paramotor flight up along the coast, then heads to Cork where he joins the thousands who make the exhausting climb up the sacred mountain of Croagh Patrick.
