Sweet moments for sugar crafters at national show
A GROUP which specialises in threedimensional cake decorating have been showing off their creations at a national exhibition.
Macclesfield Sugarcrafters, who meet at Broken Cross Methodist Church, were invited to exhibit at the prestigious Festive Food and Flower show at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.
As members of the National Sugarcraft Association they were the only sugarcraft club at the show. Their display, called Seasons, was a hit at the show, held at the beginning of the month.
Lynda Brant, speaking on behalf of the group, said: “The display generated much interest, demonstrating the intricate skills of the club’s members in producing flowers in sugar paste.
“Many of the real flower enthusiasts at the exhibition were very complimentary about the lifelike flowers produced.”
Sugarcraft covers a huge variety of styles, and includes characters and models made from sugarpaste or fondant, to lifelike and botanically correct flowers.
Macclesfield Sugarcrafters meet on the first Friday of the month at Broken Cross Methodist Church.
The next open meeting at the hall on Chelford Road is on February 5.
