Cricket club bowled over by fundraising success at dinner
A CRICKET club celebrated the end of the year with a dinner dance, raising more than £300 for charity.
The Ash Tree Cricket Club (ATCC), based at the Cricket Ground in Prestbury, held the annual event at The Bridge Hotel in Prestbury village.
The evening was attended by 76 members and friends, and began with a three course meal followed by a raffle, with prizes donated by members and friends, which raised over £300 for East Cheshire Hospice.
The revellers were then entertained by singer and entertainer Mr Andy Hoften, who performed until the early hours.
Mark Russell, who organised the event, said “The evening was a huge success. Everyone really enjoyed the event.
“A huge thankyou goes to The Bridge Hotel for the excellent food and service and to Andy Hoften whose show was amazing.
“Andy had even the most reserved people up dancing the night away, including me with a bad leg. Thanks also go to the people who attended, and there generosity which helped us raise some money for a worthy cause.”
The next event the ATCC members are looking forward to is a tour of Barbados, arranged by Mark Russell and fixtures secretary Mike Harfield. Mike said: “These are new dizzy heights, even by Ash Tree Standards. We have more than 30 people on the tour, which takes in two games of cricket in our weeks stay.”
