Cricket club bowled over by fundrais­ing suc­cess at din­ner

A CRICKET club cel­e­brated the end of the year with a din­ner dance, rais­ing more than £300 for char­ity.

The Ash Tree Cricket Club (ATCC), based at the Cricket Ground in Prest­bury, held the an­nual event at The Bridge Ho­tel in Prest­bury vil­lage.

The evening was at­tended by 76 mem­bers and friends, and be­gan with a three course meal fol­lowed by a raf­fle, with prizes do­nated by mem­bers and friends, which raised over £300 for East Cheshire Hospice.

The rev­ellers were then en­ter­tained by singer and en­ter­tainer Mr Andy Hoften, who per­formed un­til the early hours.

Mark Rus­sell, who or­gan­ised the event, said “The evening was a huge suc­cess. Ev­ery­one really en­joyed the event.

“A huge thankyou goes to The Bridge Ho­tel for the ex­cel­lent food and ser­vice and to Andy Hoften whose show was amaz­ing.

“Andy had even the most re­served peo­ple up danc­ing the night away, in­clud­ing me with a bad leg. Thanks also go to the peo­ple who at­tended, and there gen­eros­ity which helped us raise some money for a wor­thy cause.”

The next event the ATCC mem­bers are look­ing for­ward to is a tour of Bar­ba­dos, ar­ranged by Mark Rus­sell and fix­tures sec­re­tary Mike Harfield. Mike said: “Th­ese are new dizzy heights, even by Ash Tree Stan­dards. We have more than 30 peo­ple on the tour, which takes in two games of cricket in our weeks stay.”
