Nothing to fear from title rivals: Whitehead
MACC midfielder Danny Whitehead insists he does not fear any of the other teams in the division.
The Silkmen are one of the in-form sides in the National League, having won seven of their last ten matches.
Next up for them is a trip to fellow play-off contenders Wrexham, and Whitehead is confident they can leave with three points.
“If we carry on playing how we have been lately then I don’t see any team being a problem in this league,” he said. “We hadn’t been getting some of the results we wanted but to bounce back the way we have recently has been nice and hopefully it can continue.”
Macclesfield’s resurgence has coincided with good performances from Kristian Dennis and Danny Whitaker, and Whitehead believes they have played a key part.
“Danny is very experienced, so to have someone like him in the team helps some of the younger players around him,” he said. “As for Kristian, it seems like everything he hits at the moment goes in, so he’s getting those goals for us which is what we need.”
Whitehead has also been happy with his efforts in recent weeks, and recently scored in the 5-2 win over Woking earlier this month.
“I’m featuring a lot. Over the last two years this has been the most games I’ve played, and the more you play, the better you get,” he said. “Also, you always want to come in and score at every opportunity. I’m shooting to get as many goals as I can at the moment.
“Things have been going really well as a team recently and hopefully it can continue over the coming weeks.”
Whitehead joined Macclesfield in the summer after spells at Stockport, Accrington and Premier League side West Ham.
