Wind brings down trees

TWO trees fell into the road bring­ing down power lines on Sunday af­ter gusts of wind up to 52mph were recorded across Cheshire.

Fire­fight­ers were called to the first in­ci­dent on Bomish Lane in Lower Withing­ton at around 4.45pm on Sunday.

One fire engine at­tended the scene and the road was closed in both direc­tions by the crew un­til po­lice at­tended.

A po­lice spokesman said: “Po­lice were called to a re­port of a tree on power lines on Bomish Lane at 4.46pm.

“There were no in­juries or dam­age to prop­erty and the road was opened again at 10.55pm”.

A sec­ond in­ci­dent was re­ported in Poyn­ton at around 5.40pm the same day.

A po­lice spokesman said: “Re­ports were re­ceived of a tree which had fallen on to power lines at 5.39pm.

“Po­lice at­tended the scene on Lo­s­tock Road to check for dam­age.

“The in­ci­dent was re­ported to Scot­tish Power who then at­tended and re­moved the tree.

“The tree was not close to houses.

“There were no in­juries and no dam­age was caused”.

“This in­ci­dent did not re­sult in any road clo­sures.”
